A Note From Our Host, the Nebraska Action Coalition

the Nebraska Action Coalition’s Victoria Vinton

Victoria Vinton

As director of the Nebraska Action Coalition, I’m thrilled to welcome colleagues from across the country to put plans into action to build a Culture of Health in communities across the nation. “Building on the Campaign for Action to Create a Healthier America” takes place June 21-22.

I am proud, as well: Part of the reason Nebraska was chosen to co-host this meeting with the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action is that we held a Culture of Health Summit last year and planted the seeds of the movement here in the Heartland. Last fall, we brought 250 leaders from all sectors of many communities to collaborate on ways to make health a shared value. From that, we created Defining and Transforming a Culture of Health in Nebraska, a report that shows exactly how central nurses are to all efforts.

We expect this conference to be as inspiring and useful as last year’s Summit. The icing on the cake for this great gathering: We’ll celebrate our fifth year as an Action Coalition. Even as we look back at progress made toward the goals set by the Institute of Medicine, we will look ahead, too, at how we are tying pillar work with actions nurses can take to build health and well-being in their communities.

Our Action Coalition co-leads are the Visiting Nurse Association and HDR Architecture. That alliance is a snapshot of how nurses are collaborating with many others to lead the way to a new understanding of health.

We all look forward to a transformative two days filled with activities that show how nurses already contribute to a Culture of Health, and how, through collaboration, we can do even more. The following are our collaborative sponsors:
