Texas Laws Are Hurdles to Good Health, Business Chief Argues
In an opinion piece that ran in a number of publications last week, the CEO of the Texas Association of Business called Texas laws that restrict nurses “nonsensical and unfair” in a state that “does not have enough health care providers to meet our population’s needs.”
That CEO, Bill Hammond, details the history of regulations in the state that keep advanced practice registered nurses from being able to practice to the full extent of their education and training. He laments the costs not just in terms of good health, but also the loss of good nurses to other states.
