Action Plans for Recommendation 7 of the Future of Nursing 2030 Report

On June 3 and 4, 2021, the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action assembled key opinion leaders, experts, and change makers across the fields of health care, nursing and health equity. The goal: Build actions plans to operationalize the National Academy of Medicine’s Future of Nursing 2020 2030: Charting a Path to Achieve Health Equity report. Below are the action plans related to Recommendation #7.

Recommendation #7: STRENGTHENING NURSING EDUCATION
Nursing education programs, including continuing education, and accreditors and the National Council of State Boards of Nursing should ensure that nurses are prepared to address social determinants of health and achieve health equity.

Sub-recommendations

7.1 Actions for deans, administrative faculty leaders, faculty, course directors, and staff of nursing education programs.

7.2 Actions for accreditors.

7.3 Action for the National Council of State Boards of Nursing and specialty certification organizations.

7.4 Action for continuing education providers.
