Leadership Courses Required at This University

Nursing students take part in Leadership Courses “You’re graduating as a nurse leader,” all nursing majors at Widener University are told. That’s because nursing students at Widener, near Philadelphia, also attend courses at the Oskin Leadership Institute.

Widener sends students in several disciplines to the institute; this story in philly.com focuses on a number of nursing students and what they have learned.

Being trained and knowing how to lead will help students become the leaders that the Institute of Medicine called for in its 2010 and 2015 reports. As students quoted in the piece note: the lessons in leadership will help them be better nurses.
