Iowa Summit of Stakeholders Meeting on November 9, 2012

Over 100 stakeholders from across Iowa attended the summit meeting on November 9, 2012.  The purpose of the summit was to disseminate the work of the RN to BSN Task Force and solicit stakeholder feedback.  Using a "World Cafe" format, stakeholders participated in small group discussions centered on the following questions:

  • What are the driving and restraining forces affecting the goal of 50% BSNs by 2020 in Iowa?
  • What can be done to work with these forces?
  • What will nurse education in Iowa look like in order to meet the objective of 50% BSNs by 2020?

The small groups summarized their discussions and shared them with the larger group.  The RN to BSN Task Force is using feedback from the summit to guide their work on creating a statewide articulation plan for nursing education.

Thanks for sharing your progress in Iowa! It sounds like the RN to BSN task force has a good strategy for their movement forward. It may be helpful to you to review the materials on the "Shared Curriculum Model". This model would likely have the most tips and ideas for you as you move forward. Let us know how we can help.
